Origins

At Radius & Root, our work is grounded in a simple belief: sustainable impact begins with strong foundations.

The idea of “Root” is deeply personal to us. As a Native Hawaiian (Catherine) and Zambian(Ana), we are shaped by cultures that emphasize stewardship, interconnection, and responsibility to both people and place. To us, growth ("radius") is not separate from foundation—it is a reflection of it.

We carry that perspective into our work with nonprofits. Rather than focusing solely on outcomes, we help organizations build the systems, structures, and alignment that make those outcomes possible—and sustainable.

By strengthening what sits beneath the surface—governance, operations, and relationships—we help organizations expand their reach without losing their grounding.

Because when the foundation is strong, impact can grow with intention.

Catherine Wehage Molina

I am a systems orchestrator - aligning people, priorities and processes behind the scenes to drive meaningful change. My mission driven work began at 15 when I founded my own nonprofit, an experience that defined my lifelong values of stewardship, authenticity, grace and intentionality and set me down the path to attain my Masters in Public Administration from Seattle University by 20.

My career is dedicated to public service, tying operation and technology together through change management. For over 20 years, my work spans the nonprofit sector, healthcare and the public sector, where I have led large, diverse teams, developed data-driven strategies, and guided initiatives that improve access, efficiency, and equity in services. I have built scalable systems supporting organizations’ fundraising strategies and administrative back ends enabling them to stay lean and strategic.I am known for my ability to bring clarity to diverse stakeholders.

Outside of my professional life, I am deeply grounded in family and community. You’ll find me having dance parties in my living room with my two kids or out dancing salsa or bachata with my husband out in Portland. I may also be reading (from Jane Austen to personal finance), hiking throughout the Pacific Northwest, volunteering with Rose City Self Defense, or planning our next family trip (maybe to see Ana and the boys?).

Ana Rau

Born in Zambia, and raised in Michigan, transplanted to Oregon, and replanted in Michigan. I am a transracial adoptee who survived malnutrition, and I seek to help others affected by this plight. I currently serve on the SPOON Foundation Board, helping to provide equitable access to nutrition to children around the world. In my day job, I am the Chief Development Officer at Western Michigan University, based out of Kalamazoo, MI.

As a mother of two amazing boys, I am flipping the script on health, wealth, and happiness. As a graduate of Grand Valley State University, I earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration & Nonprofit Management with an emphasis in Budget & Finance. Over the past ten years, I have developed skills in fundraising, talent acquisition, and volunteer management. I am a strong believer in belonging, diversity, equity, and inclusion -  and how they present in community spaces. I want everyone in the community to feel like they belong and are included in the decision-making processes that affect their lives. As a fundraiser, I believe philanthropy is a great catalyst behind impactful systemic change in our communities. What brings me the most joy is spending time with my loving partner and sweet sons. On the weekends, you can find our family at African Drumming, soccer, or basketball games, cheering on our boys. We love to explore the great outdoors as well.
